Aims

To ensure that delegates understand the unique nature of electrical hazards and the safety strategies that should be deployed.

Objectives

By actively participating in this course delegates will be able to:

- Identify the main types of accidents involving electricity
- Be aware of the main legislation and codes of practice
- Understand the systems of work required when working in  the vicinity of overhead and underground supplies
- Know the principle controls of temporary service
- Know the principles of reduced voltage systems
- Know the principles of earthing

The following programme elements are covered:

- Main legislation EAW regs
- Overhead/underground supplies
- Temporary services/competent persons
- Reduced voltage systems, circuit breakers
- Earthing
- Site lighting
- Safety in the use of electrical equipment: power  tools, arc  welding, explosive proof equipment
- Cable location
