Aims
This course has been designed to impart the necessary knowledge & skills required by designated persons to safely mount, dismount, inspect and maintain abrasive wheels as required by the following two sets of legislation:
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- The Abrasive Wheel Regulations 1970
Objectives
By actively participating in this course delegates will be able to:
- Show a good level of understanding of the Regulations appertaining to Abrasive Wheels.
- Demonstrate the correct mounting procedure of various types of Abrasive Wheel to enable safe use at all time with due regard to health and safety.
- Show an awareness of the hazards and risks involved in using hand held grinding, cutting and bench mounted machines.
- Inspect tools, wheels and ancilliary equipment to enable safe use at all times with due regard to health and safety.
- Understand their own and other's responsibilities and be aware of the necessary precautions to take in order to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
