Aims            


To provide participants with an understanding of the hazards involved and how the LOLER Regs apply to the use of lifting equipment and the associated lifting operations

Objectives


On Completion of the course candidates will:

-    Have an appreciation of the relevant Health and Safety legislation
-    Identify the hazards, risks and controls associated with lifting operations and equipment
-    Understand the strengths of loads and associated attachments
-    Understand the requirements for equipment designed to lift people
-    Appreciate the requirements for the marking, examining and testing of lifting equipment

Course Content


-    Key legislation
-    Defining lifting equipment and operations
-    Identify the hazards, risks and controls associated with lifting operations and equipment
-    Understand the requirements for lifting equipment intended to lift people
-    The correct positioning and installation of lifting equipment
-    The marking, examination and inspection requirements for lifting equipment
-    Reporting defects in lifting equipment

 

Candidates will be required to undertake a written assessment at the end of the course
