Target Group

Operatives and supervisors who are required to operate/utilise equipment within a traffic management system

Aims   

To provide participants with an understanding of the hazards involved and the subsequent knowledge required to operate a traffic management system

Objectives

By actively participating in this course delegates will be able to:

- Have an adequate appreciation of the relevant health and safety legislation
- Identify the hazards, risks and controls associated with workplace traffic
- Understand the requirements for guarding arrangements
- Understand the requirements for workplace safety

The following elements are examined in the course:

- Key legislation
- Defining workplace safety and the associated problems
- Identify the hazards, risks and controls associated with workplace traffic
- Controlling access
- Pedestrian routes, vehicle routes and public protection
- Safe systems of work
- Emergency planning
- Vehicle inspection and maintenance
- Banksman/Slinger signals


Assessment of learning

A range of practical exercises will be undertaken during the course
